# Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Chrome extension **LingTube - YouTube Subtitle Translator & Read Aloud** (the “Extension”). The Extension reads subtitles on YouTube pages, translates them to a target language, reads the translated subtitles aloud using TTS, and can optionally help generate subtitles for videos without captions.

## Data We Process
The Extension may process the following data solely to provide its single purpose (subtitle translation, read-aloud, and optional no-caption subtitle generation):

1. **Website content**
   - YouTube subtitle text (and related text necessary for translation/read-aloud).
   - YouTube video URLs/IDs and audio data only when you use no-caption subtitle generation, audio extraction, audio download, or transcription features.
2. **Extension settings**
   - Such as target language, voice selection, rate/pitch, volumes, toggles, hotkey preferences, etc.
   - If you enable OpenAI-compatible translation, settings may also include your selected provider (OpenAI / Groq / OpenRouter / Gemini / Anthropic), model, scene, and API key. These remain stored locally in your browser.

## How We Use and Share Data
1. **Local storage**
   - Settings are stored locally in your browser via `chrome.storage` to persist your preferences.
2. **Network requests (to provide features)**
   - When you enable the relevant features, subtitle text, video URLs/IDs, or audio data may be sent to selected translation/TTS/transcription/audio-extraction services to generate translations, audio, or subtitles, for example:
     - `translate.googleapis.com` (translation)
     - `www.google.com` (optional online speech recognition / subtitle conversion)
     - `speech.platform.bing.com` (Edge TTS synthesis)
     - The Extension's own backend services, if you enable account or AI-related features
     - `bgcrcrsosqswpseimvvx.supabase.co` / `api.uniscribe.co` (optional English audio transcription)
     - `media.ytmp3.gg` / `hub.ytconvert.org` / `*.ytconvert.org` / `ytdl.y2mp3.co` / `cnv.y2mp3.co` / `nobetube.y2mp3.co` / `*.y2mp3.co` (optional audio extraction for videos without captions)
     - `*.r2.cloudflarestorage.com` (optional model/assets or temporary files needed by no-caption processing)
     - Your selected OpenAI-compatible provider endpoint (`api.openai.com` / `api.groq.com` / `openrouter.ai` / `generativelanguage.googleapis.com` / `api.anthropic.com`) (only when OpenAI-compatible translation is enabled; requests may include subtitle text and the necessary context prompt)
   - Your OpenAI-compatible API key is sent only to the provider endpoint you selected (for authorization) and is not uploaded to the Extension’s cloud server.
3. **Cookies (only for TTS service requirements)**
   - To use `speech.platform.bing.com`, the Extension may read/set an anonymous cookie required by that service (e.g., `muid`). The Extension does not read or modify cookies from other websites.

## What We Do Not Do
- We do not **sell** user data.
- We do not use or transfer user data for purposes **unrelated** to the Extension’s single purpose.
- We do not use or transfer user data to determine **creditworthiness** or for **lending**.

## Data Retention
- Settings remain in your local browser until you uninstall the Extension or clear browser data.
- Subtitle text, video URLs/IDs, and audio data are typically processed transiently for translation/read-aloud/no-caption subtitle generation; third-party services may have their own retention policies (see their privacy policies).

## Security
We take reasonable measures to protect data in transit and at rest locally, but no online transmission can be guaranteed 100% secure.

## Your Choices
- You can stop using the Extension, disable features, or uninstall it at any time.
- You can clear locally stored settings via your browser settings.

## Third-Party Services
If you use translation, TTS, transcription, or no-caption audio extraction features, requests are sent to third-party services. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies.
